This product is intended for use in CBRS networks. An Android device is required to program USIM cards. Once programmed, SIM cards can be used in any CBRS enabled device.
This guide describes how to create a USIM account, how to manage SIM profiles, and how to download and switch between SIM profiles using the USIM Build and USIM apps. In addition, please see the Glossary.
To get started, download USIM Build and USIM by scanning the corresponding QR codes on the back of your product package, or by simply searching the Google Play store. Please note: An internet connection is required when using these apps.
Launch the USIM Build app and tap the orange Create User button. Fill out the fields, then tap the green Create User button.
From the USIM Build app, tap Product, then Scan to scan your package QR code that is provided on the back of your USIM packaging and in your order shipment email. Alternatively, manually enter your package code if desired. When you register the package ID, all SIM cards in that package will be registered to your account.
Please note: Contour Networks does not collect any information from you, but does require access to your device's camera in order to scan product QR codes.
From the USIM Build app, tap Profiles, then Build Profiles. The four fields seen by default are required:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Profile Name |
Profile name as it will appear in the USIM Build app |
Profile Display Name |
Profile name as it will appear in the SIM (this can different from Profile Name if desired) |
MCC | Mobile Country Code Global testing default of 001 may be entered. |
MNC | Mobile Network Code Global testing default of 01 may be entered. |
The fields in the Advanced Options menu (when expanded) are entirely optional, allowing for any combination of these options to be set (see Glossary for descriptions).
Please note: Only one profile can be configured with Advanced Options per SIM card, and extra effort is required to configure these options for your network. Refer to your EPC's documentation when configuring these settings.
Tap the green Build Profile button when ready. After successful creation, your profile will appear on the Profiles page.
Please note: A profile is not usable until it has been assigned to one or multiple SIM cards (see next section).
From the USIM Build app, tap SIM Mgt to access two different tabs for assigning profiles to SIM cards. You may either assign one or more SIM cards to a single profile, or assign one or more profiles to a single SIM card.
As an optional feature, you may set the SIM card’s location (e.g., “Joe’s Phone”) from the Assign SIM(s) tab on the SIM Mgt page. Tap the SIM icon to the right of the desired SIM, enter your SIM Location and press Ok.
After assigning your profiles, a confirmation email from support@jcius.com will be sent to you containing network information required for configuring your EPC. Your SIM profiles are now ready to be downloaded and written to your SIM cards using the USIM app (see next section).
From the USIM app, assigned profiles are availble to download from the Download page. First, select the desired slot from the drop down menu. Next, select your profile and review the confirmation message. Tap DOWNLOAD to write your profile to the chosen slot.
From the USIM app, downloaded profiles written to slots can be switched between from the Switch page. Tap the desired profile and confirm the action. Switching profiles takes 20-30 seconds.
